Rangitikei District Council wins IM Project of the Year with iWorkplace Enterprise Content Management System

Rangitikei District Council (RDC) has been honoured with the prestigious 2024 ALGIM Project of the Year Award in the Information Management category. This accolade recognises the Council's innovative approach to transforming its information management systems, significantly enhancing efficiency, security, and accessibility.

In early 2022, Rangitikei District Council embarked on a comprehensive digital transformation journey by adopting a new iWorkplace Enterprise Content Management (ECM) system. The project aimed to streamline information management processes, ensuring compliance with Public Records Act (PRA) and privacy obligations, while also improving remote access to information.

Partnering with Information Leadership (IL), the Council migrated from SharePoint 2013 to SharePoint Online, deployed M365 Teams for better collaboration, and integrated the MagiQ property database. The project also included the development of a Kiosk for public access to digital property records and the implementation of document retention and disposal rules.

The success of this project is attributed to the Council's adaptability and continuous refinement of their work, which evolved from a simple migration to a complete redesign of their information management system. IL's expertise and support were crucial in achieving this digital transformation.

Karin Cruywagen, Manager Information Services at RDC, praised the partnership with IL, stating, "With the help of Information Leadership, we were able to adapt and incorporate new opportunities into the project without adding significant costs".

The benefits of the new iWorkplace ECM system are manifold. It has improved the Council's ability to manage information securely and efficiently, provided better access to information for field and remote workers, and introduced modern working methods. The project has also enhanced collaboration across departments and improved the overall user experience.

This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Council's Information Management Team, and the expertise and support given by the team at IL. Their collective commitment to enhancing the quality of service for the community through delivering a modern digital workplace solution was a triumph. Congratulations to Rangitikei District Council on this well-deserved recognition!
